Kielder Marathon/ Half Marathon is one of those events where nature sets the pace - every climb, the whisper of wind and the scent of pine becomes part of the experience.
This year, I took on a dual role - part Half Marathon runner, part wandering correspondent - capturing the spirit of the course one breath (and photo stop) at a time.

My 2nd winner of the brand photoshoot, @louisehick_ceramics - and the adventure began long before I even lifted my camera.
Finding her in the Allendale hills was like following a treasure map without the "X"😉.
Signs? Non-existent. Sat nav? Hopeless. But with a little stubbornness (and good weather on my side), I finally arrived.
Louise`s ceramics are woven so deeply into her surroundings that they feel almost grown, not made.
Chickens, ponies, cats, birds, flowers, the night sky - all quietly find their way into her work.
It`s a rare thing to hold art so closely rooted in the place it was born.

On a whim, I stepped into Dilston Physic Garden- part herb garden, part living apothecary and just a touch of Alice in Wonderland.
A little crowded with ideas at first, but then you stumble upon something magical: a willow circle, hidden corners overflowing with plants and unexpected details at every turn.
Symbols and traditions from across the world sit side by side here - diverse, eclectic and somehow coexisting, just like in nature itself 🌿

Small encounters, lasting impressions

Hexham Abbey isn`t a place you`d usually go for a photoshoot, but by chance-while strolling with my camera through Hexham-l met someone who does her charity work there, and it turned into a small, personal excursion.
I was inspired by how the light moves through the Abbey`s great architecture, falling gently to illuminate scenes and frame pictures in ways no camera could ever fully capture.
In my previous post there are a couple of words about who the person in these shots is.
Architecture and people together make a wonderful field of discovery for a photographer. 🤗

Yesterday I visited Hexham Abbey on the final day of the Light and Shadow exhibition.
A thoughtful display capturing how light moves across the Abbey`s carvings - one can see how photography becomes a quiet dialogue with history 🗨️ ✨.
It was inspiring to meet a fellow photographer and member of the Hexham Abbey Conservation team, Matthew Buick, whose works were featured in the exhibition alongside other photographer Phil Hughes.
After the Abbey had closed, I was able to take some photographs alongside him while he captured images for the Abbey.
It`s always inspiring to see how deeply focused and thoughtful people can be in their work, lost in careful observation.
